Biography

His primary mediums are painting and drawing. He holds a B.F.A. from the Pratt Institute and studied at the New York Studio School, and he was the recipient of a Summer Painting Fellowship from Yale. Keith has exhibited at various galleries and has had solo exhibitions at Pratt Institute. His work was on view at the 17th annual Outsider Art Fair in New York City. He was interviewed during the 18th annual Outsider Art fair as one of the main artists. His gouache and watercolor on paper work “Gift from God” was the signature piece of a Fountain Gallery exhibition “Outta Sight: Artists Outside the Mainstream”.

Biography

Martin incorporates mixed media, including photographic cutouts and found objects, into his abstract expressionist oil paintings and paper pieces introducing a textural quality into his work and exploring elements of American popular culture. Martin received a B.F.A. degree from SUNY Purchase and studied at the Studio School of New York. He was awarded an M.F.A. degree from Carnegie Mellon, where he studied with renowned artist Sam Gilliam. His works have been acquired by corporate patrons such as the Estee Lauder Companies Inc., Eli Lilly and Company, and Citi. Martin has had two solo shows at Fountain Gallery and one at Cooper Union, and in 2006 the prestigious New York gallery Vivian Horan Fine Art presented a solo exhibition of his work. Martin Cohen Selected Works was presented at Gallery at New World Stages in the fall of 2010 and in 2011 at the Laurie M. Tisch Gallery.
